Alfa Romeo 4 C concept

It was no secret that Alfa Romeo had something sporty up its sleeves for Geneva, but we weren't quite prepared for the 4C concept. What's more, it's due to hit an Alfa Romeo showroom near you in 2012.

What's all the fuss about?

If the 4C was nothing but a bare shell on the stand in Geneva then we'd still call it spectacular, but stunning looks aside, this car's technical specification is mouth watering. The Giulietta Cloverleaf's turbocharged engine is mid-mounted and puts its power out to the rear wheels. Alfa conservatively estimates a top speed in excess of 155mph and 0-62mph 'in less than five seconds'. It's basically an Italian Lotus Elise. With a roof.

Any new technology?

The 4C features a carbon fibre monocoque, which is not exactly the norm. This should be super strong and rigid, but also helps keep the weight of the car down to a scarcely believable 850kg. Should mean low emissions and fuel consumption too.
